South Camberwell Children's Centre

As well as being a primary school, DKH is also part of South Camberwell Children's Centre, which offers activities, information and support to parents and carers of children under five. Read here to find out more ...

Sure Start Children’s Centres help parents and carers of under-fives to give their children the best possible start in life. We organise groups and activities, including Little Cooks, Messy Afternoons, Bookstart Plus and coffee mornings - click here to see our timetable for summer term 2012.

Most of our events are free, but you may need to book ahead for some sessions.

Highlights of summer 2012 include an ESOL (English as a Second Language) course for parents, and another chance to catch up with our much-loved ABC -  About Boys Course- both on Wednesday lunchtimes. Follow the link above for further information. Booking essential for both.

We're also running an eight-week Being A Parent course, starting Friday 18 May, 10am-12noon. Follow this link to see the information leaflet. Or drop in on our coffee morning on Friday 11 May, 10am, at the Mary Seacole Centre, Dog Kennel Hill Primary School.

As well as these events and workshops, the Children's Centre offers regular information and support on everything to do with being a parent, including:

  • Breastfeeding and weaning
  • Healthy eating
  • Getting ready for school and nursery
  • Training and benefits

South Camberwell Children’s Centre activities take place in three main places:

  • Dog Kennel Hill School
  • The Albrighton Centre on the DKH estate
  • Camberwell Early Years Centre

The Children's Centre is run by Charlotte Wilson, who is the centre manager, Davinia Amadi, the centre's administrator, Pam Ogbebulu, our parent outreach worker, and Denise South, DKH's Foundation Stage co-ordinator, from the school.

Our office is in the school and is open from 08.30 – 4.30 for all local parents and carers to visit. Come in and buy a book for £1 – ‘Elmer the Elephant’ or ‘Spot the Dog’ titles – encourage your little one with a storybook…

You can email Charlotte at surestartmanager@dkh.southwark.sch.uk. Davinia: damadi.210@lgflmail.org. Pam: pam.ogbebulu@southwark.gov.uk

And Pam can usually be found around the school - especially in the Parents' Room on the ground floor of the Mary Seacole centre - or you can ring her on 07985 354718/020 7277 3840.
