¡Spanish Day – Día español!
Friday 22nd March
¿What happens during the school day?
Each class is adopting a Spanish speaking country for the day and children will be doing lots of interesting activities and learning about different aspects of that country.
You are very welcome to speak to your child’s teacher for more detailed information of what’s happening in his/her class during the day. You are also welcome to come to your child’s Assembly (times below).
KS1 will have a Spanish assembly at 09:30 with songs. All children will be having a Fiesta Dance workshop. At 3pm KS1 will assemble in the lower hall for the Piñata…
KS2 will have a Spanish assembly at 10:30. All children will have the opportunity to learn some aspects fo Spanish music and dance through Flamenco workshops.
Lunch - our cook will be preparing a typical Spanish menu for lunch. If your child is usually a packed lunch but would like to have the Spanish lunch, please pay advise the office on the day (any payment due can be put in a small brown envelope with child name & class, which you’ll find in Reception). Your child must let his/her class teacher know at morning register.
Spanish Café – year 6 will be running the Café for year 5 in the afternoon. Some of our old pupils from Charter (now year 7) will be visiting the Café too.
Parents/carers and staff are welcome to come for a glass of Sangría and a slice of Jamón at our Café 3:45 – 4:30pm.
FDKH will be running a Spanish Quiz and selling Churros in the playground from @ 3:15
It would be lovely to see all children dressed up in Spanish colours of red and yellow, and/or Spanish themed costumes, black trousers with white shirt and red/yellow tie/waistband, anything really that can enhance the theme of the day and give the children a sense of this special event! For girls with Flamenco dresses, if they bring high heel shoes please ensure that they also bring a change of comfortable shoes to wear at playtime.
We will be taking photographs and videoing the day’s events to add to our library of Modern Foreign Languages activities on the school website. If you have an objection regarding your child(ren) being photographed, please let his/her teacher or myself know in advance!
If you want to find out more, please come and see me at the beginning/end of the school day. You’ll find me in the Spanish room (new building).
¡Saludos! Fátima Duerden
