Dog Kennel Hill is a community school. This means that we are funded by Southwark council and are non-denominational (we are not a religious school). We are a two-form entry school, which means that we have a maximum of 60 children in each year group.

We have two classes in our Nursery, which means that we can have a maximum of 50 children in each  half-day session, taking children from the age of approximately three. Most places are part-time (either morning or afternoon for two hours a day), but we aim to offer all children a full-time nursery place for at least one term before they start in Reception.

Children start Reception in September (if their birthday is between September and February) or January (if their birthday is between March and August). Year groups are made up of two classes with a maximum of 30 children in each.

Teaching at DKH follows the national curriculum, but we pride ourselves on maintaining breadth beyond that, and in particular, on the vibrancy of our teaching and learning in the arts. We are a very inclusive school and we believe that the inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs is of benefit to all of us. Extracurricular activities and clubs include our gardening club, knitting club, choir, instrumental lessons, Spanish clubs and sports clubs, enabling children to develop their talents and interests beyond the main curriculum.

DKH has recently won an International School Award and School of the Year Award from the Spanish Embassy. The school has links with two schools in Spain and was twinned with a school in South Africa, with which we have maintained links. To read an article on the Xolani School follow this link.

Our most recent OFSTED inspection report is available here. We have also been awarded the Activemark, Healthy Schools status and the International Schools Award (Full Status).
